Abbey began her exploration of yoga in 2005, as a high school teacher in Asheville. She needed something to help her unwind and decompress. After the first class she took, she was so inspired, she told her friend, “I just want to do this all the time. Imagine how amazing that would be to teach yoga, to just make people happy.”
For the next decade, Abbey practiced almost everything from Power to Yin, Hatha-Vinyasa, and Prenatal yoga. She realized that a vinyasa-style Mindful Flow gave her that perfect balance of calm and strong. She discovered the healing power of breath. She was able to reduce stress, find patience, and let go of the need to control everything. In yoga, she was able to quiet her mind through mindfulness and moving meditation. And it became clear that this was a practice that she could bring into her everyday life. She saw the ripple effect and realized she wanted to share the benefits of yoga with more people.
It wasn’t long after her 2nd daughter was born that she decided to attend Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) and become 200 hour certified in her current hometown, Greenville, SC. After 6 years of teaching in multiple venues, everything from breweries to amphitheaters to studios, and more, Abbey felt inspired to open a studio in Travelers Rest, SC.
Many of her students will attest that Abbey has a passion for helping others to discover what they are capable of, while offering space that encourages students to love themselves just as they are. She teaches her students how to mindfully strengthen their bodies while finding ease and comfort within themselves. Abbey’s radiant energy reveals how truly grateful she is to guide each student on his/her yoga journey.
